Opening Doors

I like to think of Pakistanis as inherently hospitable people. I like to believe that it has something to do with our tradition that dictates: people are truly happy only on a full stomach.

For us Lahori's—the food Makkah of Pakistan—all warmth in a relationship is fuelled through food. Whether it is the aphrodisiac affects of prawn curry, the slumberous calling of too much nihari or the sure-shot sugar high from the gooey, pan-hot halva…our food defines us. We revere it in an almost single-minded obsession. To us it is the ultimate worship.

While in my heartland tastes run anywhere from the spicy to the sublime, I like to extend this love of eating to all foods Oriental and Occidental. A rambunctious ménage trio of flavours, spices, cheeses, roux(s), meats and sauces … delightfully experimented with and unapologetically and shameless consumed with rigour and delight. (Burnt courses are given as much respect here as the perfectly laid platter).

It is in this regard, therefore, that we welcome you. You'll find oft repeated recipes here (from all over the world), since I am forever seeking perfection. If you would like to add to it, please go ahead, because the more the cooks in this broth, the better the outcome!
